A True Neighborhood Gathering Spot
Come hang in our taproom, one of the most unique in Houston, where we serve up serious beer in a welcoming space.
Originally built in 1911 and then rebuilt after a fire in 1948, the building housed the RB Everett Company, which specialized in heavy construction equipment supply, until the early 2000s. Comfortably seating 80, our taproom boasts all original brickwork, window frames, and flooring, carefully blending our new industrial feel with the original attributes of the building.

We have about 2000 square feet of indoor climate-controlled space available with two accessible gender-neutral restrooms in the taproom itself and two larger accessible restrooms just a short walk down the hall in the building lobby. We do not have a kitchen on-site, but you are welcome to provide catering for your event, or we can reach out to some of our preferred food vendors if you’d like us to. We have a projector and audio available in our taproom space for film or slideshows for an additional fee.

Nothing can prepare you for the whirlwind of emotions that take over when someone you love takes their own life. So this iteration of Shared Strength is about a lot of things.
It’s about mental health awareness.
It’s about processing loss.
It’s about services for the service industry.
It’s about fostering a community of support and understanding.
It’s about preventing similar loss.
Mental health is health, but too often those caught in the blur of the F&B industry are forced to treat it as an afterthought- especially when many are uninsured.
At the heart of Shared Strength is an effort to destigmatize mental illness while shedding light on free resources that exist for those in the service industry. If you’re struggling with your mental health: There is help and you’re not alone.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and this iteration of Shared Strength is benefiting I'll Have What She's Having for WellWeek. Those of you who follow us know we provide a space for FREE monthly mental health support groups, thanks to I'll Have What She's Having and Champion Counseling.
This Friday 5/10 we’ll release Shared Strength in our taproom and we encourage you to join us at 5pm to kick off this campaign. 100% of our taproom sales of Shared Strength will be going to I'll Have What She's Having and the mental health services they provide. Yes, all of your purchase is going to this cause.
A bit about the beer: Shared Strength is a charitable lager fermented similarly to a California Common, and brewed with Chef Dawn Burrell’s culinary suggestions of purple rice and a West African sustainable supergrain called Fonio. The result is a crisp, dry lager that is slightly floral on the nose and a bit nutty on the finish.
Dawn is going to make a great brewer one day.
You can show your support for IHWSH by purchasing Shared Strength at the following locations: Star Sailor HTX Johnny's Gold Brick, Axelrad, Anvil Bar & Refuge, Tacos A Go Go, Local Foods Heights, EZ's Liquor Lounge, Neil's Bahr, Coltivare, UH Den Bar, Underground Hall, and Houston Flying Saucer.
