“Why is my beer so foamy?”

Because that foam is your friend.

Just like a cappuccino or cortado’s foam elevates your coffee experience, that creamy dense pillow that kisses you gently as you sip a cold Pilsner is keeping your beer fresh and crisp while inviting more flavor, aroma, and texture to the symphony you’re about to imbibe.

Beer is only part the the journey. A nuanced pour takes your beer to the next level.

Take the Hladinka Pour shown here, the most popular of our 3 traditional Czech pours. The beauty of this pour is the aromatics and carbonation of the beer are sealed under a creamy lid, leaving a perfect balance of bitter and sweet for a very smooth drinking experience. This pour makes for a great conversation companion because it keeps your beer fresh as you chat.

Foam isn’t a facet of all faucets. That creamy lid is made possible by an authentic Czech side-pull faucet called a Lukr. It’s the magic behind our Czech pours: the Hladinka, Šnyt, and Mliko, which are enjoyed for different reasons. A Snyt is good-to while enjoying a rich dinner (makes you feel less full) and a Mliko shot can be enjoyed as palate cleanser or a dessert beer.

We have 2 Lukr taps, which means you can have 3 Czech pours of Pilsner Rešov and Loggerbier- do tell us which is your favorite.

Kaizen just got better…

If you frequent our taproom, you may have noticed us trying out a new tap to serve a Cream Pour of Kaizen, our Japanese Rice Lager. The beauty of this pour is in its ability to take Kaizen to the next level, so in the spirit of kaizen (continuous improvement) we are making it the standard. Say hello to our Kaizen Cream Pour.

Similar to a Japanese style Sharp Pour, the beer is poured gently at a 45 degree angle and then topped with a dense, creamy foam. The best ratio is 70 parts liquid to 30 parts foam, as the foam serves to seal the beer and elevate the flavor, crispness, aroma, and overall Kaizen experience.

For best results, tilt your head back to let the foam + liquid converge in your mouth, and take time to savor the moment.

We’ve been lucky enough to share a brewing journey with Dawn. Now she’s creating a specially curated dinner to highlight our beer. “Food. Stories. Culture. My idea of global comfort seeks to explore the very qualities of cuisines that make them heart warming and soul touching. From an early age, I realized the power of a good meal that was crafted from one’s identity. This month’s one-off is a salute to a gentle, hilarious soul who became a star one day after his birthday. For this we paired Vela, a hazy IPA, with persimmon to make a delightfully juicy brew that you can think about Sweating to the Oldies to.

As always, this one-off is taproom only. And once it’s gone, it’s gone forever. Rest in peace, Richard Simmons.
